EU Ambassador visits IIASA

Albert van Jaarsveld spoke about IIASA science diplomacy activities and history of science-policy studies, which are of great relevance to the European Union, including on climate change, energy, demography, and sustainability pathways for post-COVID-19 world.

He also presented IIASA research project “Challenges and Opportunities of Economic Integration within a Wider European and Eurasian Space”, which focuses on plausible futures of economic cooperation and interplay between different integration processes in the region.

Ambassador Klement expressed great appreciation for IIASA work and its important efforts to facilitate informed decision-making in the EU.

Ambassador Klement was accompanied by Lambert Schmidt, First Counsellor of the Delegation of the European Union to the International Organisations in Vienna, and Alain Matton, Press Attaché and Communication and Public Information Officer of the Delegation of the European Union to the International Organisations in Vienna. From the IIASA side Iain Stewart, Head of Communications and External Relations Department, and Sergey Sizov, Science Diplomacy Officer, Communications and External Relations Department, participated in the meeting.
